Too Lazy
Wednesday, December 27, 2006Busy-busyhan during the holidays. Having a full week off, there's just too much to do yet so little money to spend (as always!) The side job files that I urgently needed weren't recovered but at least Christopher managed to salvage my portfolio files. So now, I gotta work during the holidays, but hey, it is inevitable and I need all the moolah I could get for the DSLR.
My Christmas carbonara turned out to be a hit, heehee! And I'm glad that everyone was happy being all here in Malinao together, video chatting with my aunt, uncle and cousins in Calgary for 7.5 hours straight. I really miss Jayson but we all that he was happy mingling with the relatives last Christmas. And what a perfect way to end the night with a steaming cup of coffee (and a slice of so-so cheesecake that tasted like curly tops) in a cozy cafe with someone who brings out the happy dreams.
Although Cel, Ainz, Aga and Carla missed the get-together yesterday, it was still fun. I missed them girls and I hope we'll make some effort to see each other more often to catch up with each other.
Gotta work…Duh!
A Week in a Blackhole
Thursday, December 21, 2006I don't have a computer since Tuesday last week and I'm close to losing my sanity due to my sheer stupidity. Monday morning after I got back from Baguio, I posted some pics in my blog. I dragged the pics to be uploaded on my desktop, deleted them after, without noticing that I included the Michelle Files folder which contained generally my entire life (portfolio, templates, archives, and 4 unfinished sidejobs including an FA file to be turned over to the printing press last week) and without thinking and checking the trash, I pressed Alt+Cmd+Del!
I didn't realize that I have deleted ALL my files until I got back home in the evening. Thanks to Philmug, someone referred me to Xyon who does data recovery, although it would cost me a lot. The following morning, I went to Sencolink to have my HD removed. Turned out they recover deleted data too for much, much lower fee and without the need to remove my HD. But three days were wasted; they didn't even call me for updates.
Xyon saved my ass. Files are still being recovered right now and the muggers were right. Xyon is good and very professional! Thanks to Chris. I wouldn't have to work during the holidays recreating the files that I lost.
I really miss my baby Jessica..:)
Lesson: Invest in an external hard drive. Always back up your files and make folder aliases in your desktop…
New Palette of Colors
Monday, December 11, 2006I’ve dreamt of green mermaids on giant marble boulder and giant orange fish swimming in turquoise stretch of pool, my feet avoiding the cold water as I cross through a weak log…
I’ve started my journey in a fallen wonderland, leaving with water running from my eyes, spear stuck at my chest, staining the path I walked through with crimson. Images of the predator were still vividly flashing back, refraining me from shutting my eyes. Through the night, I see and hear everything. The silent cries of within were deafening, unforgiving.
She heard the blaring whisper, temporarily numbed the heart with little round gems that stopped the restless. Why, she wasn’t the fairy who turned hell into paradise. I dropped the jewels back to earth and went on with the detour.
I dreamt of giant squid jumping out of dark blue water with only a perfectly round moonlight illuminating the surreal scene. Spectacles of light seemed to drop from above after a fresh path was drawn by the squid when his massive body kissed the shore. Stunned and awed, I traced it with my foot steps…
I dreamt of a baby elephant carrying me to a garden. The spear was gone though the pink scar was visible. My eyes water as I smelled the fresh grass, as the palette of flowers tickled my nose and as the citrus fruits teased my taste buds. A smile finally broke in and lasted throughout the day.
The baby elephant gently kneeled and waited for my feet to touch the warm bed of green grass. And we smiled. Far behind, the mermaids, fish, squid and even the false fairy were also smiling. I’ve made it through the dark road and right in front of me is a newly born spring…
Back in Manila
Finally got my much needed rest in Baguio. I left Manila Friday noon
with a fever, annoying cold and dry cough, slept during the entire
travel, had a really late dinner and went back to sleep until 10 in
morning. That was the best sleep ever!
I didn't get to jog around the city though because it never stopped
raining. I got to visit Vocas (the "Willy Wonka-like place" art gallery
my co-worker was tellig me about) on Saturday afternoon with my Mom and
Denden. Unfortunately, Mama's camera took worthless pictures in low
light. She better find a better, more reliable digicam.
I wish Manila was as cold as Baguio. It would be so nice to wake up
early morning and have a nice long jog. Here are some of the better
pics though…
Me and Den in the ship in Vocas.
Just goofing around with the camera's self timer after the disappointment with the earlier pics from the gallery.
1. Get Cornrows: CHECK!
Sunday, December 3, 2006
Finally got my rows last Friday from a salon in Greenhills. It took only 2.5
hours to get done, which is pretty fast for a quality cornrows. It
didn't really turn out to be a good one cuz the hair below my head's a
little loose. I doubt if this would last for two weeks.
Will post some pics tomorrow..This is the teaser pic. Haha! Ain't this cool man?
